Why Glass

The guardrail you don’t have to look at

A guardrail is a safety system first — but it doesn’t have to chop up your view or date your interior. We design, temper, and install the whole system in house, so the same licensed glaziers who measure your stairs set the glass and stand behind it.

  • Every photo on this site is our own work — no stock photos
  • Tempered and laminated safety glass with structural interlayers
  • Systems for stairs, balconies, decks, lofts, and pool barriers
  • Residential and commercial — one C-17 license covers both

Systems

Choose your railing system

Four mounting systems cover nearly every condition. Not sure which fits? That’s what the measure is for — we recommend based on your structure, not our inventory.

Frameless base-shoe glass staircase railing in a Los Angeles home

Frameless Base Shoe

The glass disappears into a continuous aluminum channel at the floor line — the cleanest, most architectural look. Top rail in metal or wood, or a slim cap for a near-invisible edge. Our most requested system for modern stairs and balconies.

Standoff-mounted glass railing along an upper hallway, Los Angeles

Standoff Mounted

Round stainless standoffs pin the glass off the stair stringer or fascia. Ideal for floating stairs and anywhere floor space is tight — the treads stay fully clear.

Post & Clamp

Slim posts with precision glass clamps — the most flexible system for decks, retrofits, and mixed conditions, in stainless or matte black.

Pool Fencing

Frameless glass barriers with self-closing, self-latching gates that meet California pool-barrier code — and keep the view you bought the house for.

Safety & Code

Beautiful is table stakes. It also has to pass inspection.

We engineer every run for its exact condition — substrate, anchoring, exposure — so it looks effortless and performs under load.

  • Tempered and laminated safety glass per CBC glazing requirements
  • Guard height and load resistance built to the California Building Code
  • Marine-grade hardware options for coastal properties
  • Pool barriers with self-closing, self-latching gates
  • Stamped documentation available for permit packages

How It Works

Measured, fabricated, installed — by us

01

Photos & Quote

Send photos and a rough length. We’ll give you an itemized quote and flag anything that needs a closer look.

02

Field Measure

We template every angle and step on site — stairs and out-of-plumb conditions are where railings are won or lost.

03

Fabrication

Glass is cut, polished, drilled, tempered, and laminated to the field templates. Hardware is staged and checked.

04

Installation

Most residential railings install in one to two days. We seal, align, and clean — then walk it with you.

Fabrication time is the main timeline driver — your written quote includes the full schedule before you commit.

Pricing, Honestly

What drives the cost of a glass railing?

We don’t publish price tables — on custom glass work they mislead more than they help. Here’s what actually moves your number, so you can compare quotes intelligently:

Questions

Glass railings, answered straight

Are glass railings safe and up to California code?
Yes — when engineered and installed correctly. We build to California Building Code guard height and load requirements using tempered and laminated safety glass, anchored for the exact condition: stair, balcony edge, or pool barrier.
What does a glass railing cost?
Cost is driven by linear footage, the mounting system (base shoe, standoffs, or posts), glass thickness and lamination, handrail material and finish, site access, and new construction vs. retrofit. Those factors swing the number too much for honest ballparks — so we quote each project individually after seeing it. The quote is free and itemized.
Frameless, standoff, or post — which should I choose?
Base-shoe frameless gives the cleanest look. Standoffs shine on stairs and tight conditions. Post & clamp is the most flexible for decks and retrofits. Structure decides first, looks second — we’ll recommend at the measure.
Can glass railing work as a pool fence?
Yes — frameless glass pool fencing with self-closing, self-latching gates meets California pool-barrier requirements and keeps sightlines open. It’s one of our most requested installs on view properties.
How long does the whole thing take?
After the field measure, glass is custom-fabricated and tempered — that production window drives the timeline. Installation itself is typically one to two days for residential work. Your written quote includes the full schedule.
How do I maintain it?
Standard glass cleaner or soap and water. Avoid harsh abrasives on laminated edges and hardware. Near the coast, an easy-clean protective coating applied at fabrication reduces water spotting and cleaning effort — ask us about it.
